About Associated Board Theory Sessions

Getting Grade 5 theory is essential for those wishing to progress through the Associated Board exams. Our interactive sessions aim to prepare students for theory exams or just to underpin their musicianship.  We aim to make theory fun, practical and interactive. Students are placed in a group appropriate to their theory knowledge. Learning is consolidated through graded workbooks which can be bought through GAM.

Weekly theory sessions take place in Gloucester on Saturday mornings and in Cheltenham on Saturday afternoons. There are 10 sessions each term, 12pm-1pm in Gloucester (Barbican House), 4pm-5pm in Cheltenham (Dean Close Prep School). These sessions are aimed at grades 1-5 and cost £76 for 10 weeks.

Every summer at the end of July, we offer intensive weekend theory courses for those who are preparing to take their grade 5 theory exam.  Students who take these courses have a great track record of grade 5 exam success.  This popular intensive course uses a mixture of practical and written tasks to explain musical concepts and prepare students for exam success.  Please see holiday courses for more information about the next course.
