Last year, a hundred and forty-three young players aged from 5 to 18, from grade 1 to post grade 8 spent a day at Dean Close school and then moved to Tewkesbury Abbey to prepare for their well-attended 3pm concert.

They worked together on a newly commissioned piece (in honour of our 40th anniversary) by Jeff Moore, The Comet Stone, and Jon Trim’s Celtic Fantasia. The children were supported by tutors from Gloucestershire Academy of Music and Make Music Gloucestershire. GAM’s Artistic Director, Glyn Oxley, conceived and developed this project and directed the project alongside Jonathan Trim, conductor of Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra.

The Comet Stone was a world premiere, especially commissioned by GAM for the occasion and generously supported by The Radcliffe Trust.
