Boost to GAM Bursary Fund
GAM’s bursary fund got a £365 boost (and rising …) from Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year James Li’s winner’s concert at the weekend. The capacity audience at Cheltenham College was spellbound by his performance of Sibelius’s Violin Concerto, accompanied by GSO under Glyn Oxley’s baton.
They responded with generous donations to GAM’s bursary fund at the retiring collection having heard Executive Director Richie Ashton-Phillips explain how more than 40 students had benefited from the fund last year (photo below).
GAM student Martha Green presented James Li with a gift at the end of his performance (photo above), which marks the launch of the 2025 search for a Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year. (Visit gloucestershiresymphony.org.uk for details.)
